Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read about my upcoming mandate with Canadian Crossroads International.

This opportunity is part of a longer journey shaped by experiences working with communities in different countries and contexts, from supporting psychosocial programming with a local NGO in Rwanda to strengthening community-led child and family services with Inuit communities in Nunavut in the Canadian Arctic. Those experiences have strengthened my belief that meaningful change happens when local organizations and communities themselves are supported to lead the work.

Over the coming year, I will be serving as a Program Support Advisor in Uganda, supporting initiatives carried out by Crossroads International and its network of local partner organizations that strengthen community programming and advance opportunities for women and girls. 

As part of this mandate, Crossroads participants are asked to contribute to the organization’s mission through fundraising. I have set a personal goal of raising $5,000 CAD to further support the work carried out with local partners.

Since 1958, Crossroads International has been working alongside grassroots organizations across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean to promote gender equality and strengthen community-led development. The organization was inspired by the vision of James H. Robinson, who believed that people are fundamentally more similar than different and envisioned “ONE WORLD” built on mutual understanding and respect across cultures. More than six decades later, Crossroads continues to pursue that vision by supporting partnerships that empower communities to lead their own development.

This work also reflects broader international development priorities, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy, which places gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls at the center of international assistance. For those interested in learning more about these global development frameworks, you can visit:
