Dear Friends,
Over 50 years ago, I had the life-changing opportunity to volunteer with Crossroads International in Sierra Leone, West Africa. During my four-month stay between my third and fourth years at university, I worked in a health clinic for mothers and children in a small village, distributed UN-supplied food and medicine to surrounding communities, dug pit latrines, and helped in the rice fields. This experience profoundly impacted my life.
Since that time, I have worked throughout my career with several dedicated organizations, many of which have been focused on the development of health and well being of communities in Africa including Crossroads International. Now, five decades later, I am leading a group of 20 adventurers to Senegal, West Africa. We will witness and support Crossroads crucial work with at-risk youth, girls forced into early marriages, and sustainable farming projects empowering female farmers.
Crossroads International collaborates with partners in sub-Saharan Africa to implement innovative programs focusing on economic empowerment, access to justice, and women’s leadership. Annually, these initiatives benefit over 150,000 families by providing vital support and fostering community development.
As I prepare for this self-financed Charity Challenge journey in February 2025, I am committed to raising $15,000+ to support Crossroads' mission. I invite you to join me in this effort. Your contribution, regardless of the amount, will significantly impact these programs, offering counseling, leadership skills, and economic opportunities to vulnerable women and girls while advocating for equality with local governments.
Together, we can create lasting, positive change in these communities. Please consider donating through the link below. If you would like more information about Crossroads International or the Charity Challenge to Senegal, I would be delighted to discuss it with you.
Kind regards, Susan
